Throughout 2024, Fundación Diagrama has carried out the Programme for the promotion of active and healthy ageing: A comparative study concerning the actions of the Third Sector of Social Action in Spain and third countries in terms of participation, financed by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda.
This project seeks to analyse strategies and practices for promoting the participation of older people, as part of active ageing, in three European countries (United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland), comparing them with those used in Spain. In this way, these best practices can then be adapted and applied to the particularities of Spanish society.
Objectives
The general aim of this programme is to broaden the knowledge of the Third Sector of Social Action in Spain about healthy and active ageing, concerning in particular strategies to promote the participation of older people. Its specific objectives are:
- To compare strategies of the Third Sector of Social Action for the promotion of active and healthy ageing between Spain and third countries, in particular concerning the participation of older persons.
- To analyse examples of best practices in this field in both Spain and third countries.
- To consider the adaptation of international best practices in this field to the Spanish context.
- To analyse the effect of globalisation and internationalisation on the actions of the Third Sector of Social Action in this field.
- To analyse the impact of the gender perspective in the promotion of active and healthy ageing in the Third Sector of Social Action in terms of participation of older people.
Who it is aimed at
The main beneficiaries of this programme are the entities of the Third Sector of Social Action, as well as professionals and volunteers who provide services to older people within these entities. Older people will be the indirect beneficiaries of this programme.
Results
The primary result of the study will be a report analysing in depth the strategies and practices for promoting the participation of older people, as part of active ageing, in three countries (United Kingdom, Norway and Switzerland) comparing them with those used in Spain.
The results will be shared through a webinar aimed at professionals and volunteers in the Third Sector of Social Action, as well as through audiovisual material created and shared on Fundación Diagrama's website and social networks.
